Since 2005, Handsome Willy’s has hosted some of New Orleans’ most interesting DJs.
DJ Justin Thomas
DJ Justin Thomas is known for the party. The musical diversity of his set and his uncanny ability to deejay any setting make him ideal for all kinds of audiences and events.
A family member’s elaborate collection of 50s, 60s, and 70s vinyl catalyzed a young DJ Justin Thomas’ love for music. He began his career in New York City at the age of 18. In the early days, he played music for a variety of occasions, from intimate house parties to 500-person weddings.
As he built his skills and reputation, his repertoire of events became as diverse as his sets. It was the 90s: one night, house music at a Brooklyn rooftop party, the next Top 40 hits at a Bar Mitzvah. During this time, he sustained weekly gigs spinning funk, soul, and hip hop at Manhattan’s famous St. Marks Street Tavern and Black Betty’s Bar in Brooklyn. At his last gig before moving to New Orleans in 1998, he provided the soundtrack to Donatella Versace’s fashion show during New York City’s Fashion Week.
Since relocating to New Orleans, Justin has held a consistent spot deejaying at the city’s hottest Friday night happy hours, including the Columns Hotel and Lucy’s Retired Surfer’s Bar. Over the last five years, he has reinvigorated his DJ business and continues to play music at weddings, corporate events, private parties, and street festivals.
DJ Justin Thomas can now be found rocking the party every Friday night at Handsome Willy’s Patio Bar, a lively place filled with good times and great music!
